I'm Rian and Kelli's cousin and this is the first post I'm doing because 1) I don't think I'm quite good enough to keep up with these projects (although I do want to attempt them) and 2) I really wanted to finish this dress I've been working on before I start a new project. I've put in a zipper once before last summer with Kelli's help and, with her directing me step-by-step, I don't remember it being that hard to do. But, obviously I didn't remember very well. I'm going to unpick and start again and I would appreciate any tips for putting in a zipper, especially for when you get to the bottom of it. Thanks!
I don't have any tips because I also SUCK at zippers. No matter what I try they look totally wonky.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck my friend!
my suggestion is to keep zipping the zipper up and down during sewing so that you never have to sew around it. for instance when you get down to the bottom zip the handle all the way to the top so that you have a flat area to finish. does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelli, that does make sense.
ReplyDeleteive never done a zipper before, but good luck brave woman!
ReplyDeleteKat I baste stitch every part of the zipper in first so that if I need to rip it out it's easy. It also helps to get the final stitching in perfect because there are no pins to mess with and it's already laying flat and smooth. good luck. Too bad you don't just live down stairs anymore.
