I decided to take
this pattern and fabric out of the stash and sew it up for the
spring top week over at
Made by Rae. Overall I am pretty happy with it. I love the pattern. I feel like it has a good 1950's throwback kinda feel and is very flattering. It was pretty easy to sew up as well. Once again, however, I am not so sure about my fabric choice. I have wanted to introduce more color into my wardrobe lately, but I may have gone overboard. I feel like the fabric is a little juvenile, especially in such a large quantity. I will still wear the shirt, but maybe layer a cardigan with it to tone it down. I think I would try this pattern again in a more subtle fabric.
GREAT shape! It's very feminine.
ReplyDeleteI love your top. I have the same pattern, and went to make it the other day before I realized that I had grabbed the wrong pattern size when I bought it, grrrrr. It's a very cute top though, reminds me of one of my favorite tops from Anthropologie.
ReplyDeleteI love this top - the shape is awesome but I actually think the print is my favorite part! Fun and springy, but the dark background and abstract shape of the flowers give it some sophistication. I could see it out on the town with a fab pencil skirt (or running in the backyard with the kids in jeans!) Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this top. I'm going to find the pattern very soon and try to make one of my own. I also wanted to tell you that I love the color. Just rock the bold prints and leave the cardigan at home :) The first spring top from a few weeks ago is slow going for me because I never really used to follow patterns and I'm so rusty on my sewing. I also got distracted by making my brother a t-shirt blanket. But, I'll hopefully finish it one day and post it on here ...
ReplyDeleteJust found this link when I was looking up this pattern on PatternReview.com. I just wanted to let you know what a great job you did with this top. You've definitely convinced me to make it.
