Next Month's Pattern : Simplicity 2443

As Rian mentioned in an earlier email she will be taking a break for a little while as she tends to the needs of her family. As a result you are going to hear a lot from me over the next few months. And I am excited because I have so many patterns that I have been dying to try.

For the month of July I decided to tackle one of things that has always scared me : knits.

We will be doing a couple of short tutorials, but the main pattern that we will be tackling is Cynthia Rowley's knit dress pattern 2443. I have loved it from the first time I saw it and am so excited to get started. Plus, my mother gave me some awesome nautical striped knit fabric from her stash that she has had since I was born.

So, get your patterns and fabric and get ready for next month. See you then.

  1. Ahh! I got this pattern a few weeks ago! Already got my fabric - I've just been dreading starting it! I've never worked with knit, so I'm BEYOND thrilled to be able to follow along and have support! Yay!

Also, best wishes to Rian and her family and that sweet sweet baby. :)

  2. I have been daydreaming about a dress like this. It has everything I want: racerback, straps wide enough to cover a bra strap, knit, pockets! I'm SO EXCITED to make this.

  3. I'm so excited you will be working with knits. I bought fabric to make knit pajama pants for my girls a few months ago, and have been too nervous about messing it up to actually make them.
I can't wait for your tips and hints!

  5. for the love of god! start with an easier 1st knit project. I made this one this week and while the finished product is cute it made me want to tear my hair out! all those cute little details on the bodice add up to lots of little pieces and lots of curves to sew. This wasn't my 1st knit project either- I've made tanks, a few t-shirts, leggings for myself and my daughter.

Which items should I get fabric and supplies for? Just the dress or the dress and jacket?
    Thanks

  9. Kelli, would you mind sharing your suggestions about dressforms? What brand, where to find them reasonably priced, etc. Thanks!

I own the actual CR version of this dress and wear it ALL the time in the summer - it's chic and comfortable. You will love it!
