Swimsuit Sewing

I had the opportunity to take a swimsuit sewing class last week at Vogue Fabrics in Evanston, IL. I don't think I can emphasize how great the class was. Not only was I able to make my own suit, but I squeaked out one for my one year old as well. I am pretty sure that I will never buy a suit for myself or daughter again. It was a lot more doable than I ever realized. And at just a yard of fabric it is so much cheaper too.

I think they only teach this class once a year, but if you are in the area I highly recommend putting it on the calendar for next spring.

If you want to try to make one yourself there are a ton of great tips at creative chicks at play.

  1. I'll tell the truth...sewing my own swimsuit has scared me. BUT...trying to find swimsuits that were the right size and modest for my girls (and myself) this year has been really incredibly frustrating. Maybe I'll have to try it out! Thanks for always inspiring me!!

Wow! Both of the suits came out beautifully! Swim suit sewing scares me so I give you a lot of credit for knocking out two :)

  7. Adorable! Do you live near the city? How did I not know you were nearby? I live on the north side and love Vogue. Jim fixes my machine every time I screw it up! (and talks my husband into upgrades). Glad that you had such a great experience with the class! Do they sell swimsuit fabric there?
