I feel like maxi dresses are everywhere and look good on anyone so I am super excited to get started.
Now for the giveaway part of the post. Rian and I are starting something new on this blog as well - a monthly giveaway.
Here is how it works:
What presserfoot will do:
- we will provide you with next month's pattern
- we will provide you with some awesome fabric to make the pattern
- we will do a short feature on our blog about you and your blog (if you have one)
- we ask that you make the pattern in the month given with the fabric
- we ask that you be an author on our blog for that month and make at least 4 posts during the month about your experience making the pattern.
- you will need to get your own notions, interfacing etc...
I hope you guys are as excited about this as we are!
Hey that sounds great! I am almost to my second trimester, but I think that this could easily be a maternity dress, with very few alterations, if any... But I'd love to try it...
ReplyDeleteI am SO excited. I'd love to try it. I'll cross my fingers. I am 5'11" though so I hope you have enough fabric to make a LONG maxi dress ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited! I'm also up for the challenge and the fabric is lovely and retro - perfect for a Maxi dress! And they are all the rage here in Oz, ready for a long hot summer.
ReplyDeleteI love the maxi dress but I haven't bought one yet because I convinced myself to make one instead. I'd love to try this pattern! Exciting!

I don't know if I would be eligible to win the giveaway as I'm in the UK, but thought I'd comment anyway. I've been umming and ahhing about whether or not to make myself a maxi dress for a few months now. Because I am so petite I suppose I've always been afraid that I would look swamped!! But that pattern and fabric look lovely, so I thought I might give it a go! :)

I would love to make this maxi dress - perfect for the end of summer in humid NYC! I recently found this blog and I love looking at all the tips and projects. It would be fun to participate!
ReplyDeleteI'm far away too, in Japan, but I'd love to enter if I can! I'm still very much a beginner sewer but I'm keen to have a go. And that fabric is great, very retro and funky!

I'm in! I've been wanting to try a maxi dress for a while now. And the fabric is super cute!
ReplyDeleteCount me in! I don't have a maxi dress in my wardrobe and I love the funky fabric.
ReplyDeleteelizrobis@yahoo.com
*squee* how fun! I'm totally in!
ReplyDeleteOooh, what a fun contest! I love to sew and this would be a fun dress to make! I haven't made anything for myself for a while and I don't have a maxi dress. The fabric is awesome! I'm excited, even if I don't win, I can't wait to see the posts on this!

I love the pattern you picked out, it's very similar to a Butterick I made back in 1972 for a wedding I went to. (aw-oh, there's that showing my age thing again!) I'd love to make this for my older daughter, she's in AZ at school and this would keep her nice and cool.
ReplyDeleteI'll go talk about you at my blog,
www.sno-wear.blogspot.com because I think you're doing a great job of teaching folks to sew!
San-Dee
I am getting really excited about this pattern! I hope I win!
ReplyDeletetorrimahoney@gmail.com
Oh! WOAH! FUUUUUN! I'd really like to try this out!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great pattern, and that fabric is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis is a terrific idea! I hope to participate! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I would love to try this pattern, and participate in the blogging. The fabric is great for summer, but could also transition into fall, so the timing is great. I am plus sized so I could make it for a friend, it the pattern doesn't accomidate, or resize it to fit. I am a beginner sewer, but you can check out my new blog over at makethings.wordpress.com.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! With a baby due on September 2nd, this will make a perfect post-maternity dress for me!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea! I would love to join in the fun. Especially with a maxi dress like this, because I was planning to make one of those some day soon. I love those dresses!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea! I would love to be included..would force me to make something for myself. :)
ReplyDeleteThat fabric is so cute. I'd love to make a dress out of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea! I just found your blog and have not yet participated in a sew along, but I think I need to make this dress.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and fun idea! I love the fabric you've chosen too. I've never tried to make myself clothes from a pattern before - too chicken I've just made a couple of REALLY simple skirts from online how-tos, so this would be a nice stretch for me and a great way to force me to take the step I've wanted to for so long. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun! Just getting started sewing garments. But I think I can handle this pattern. Plus I can always use a nice lightweight dress here in the south. I'm crossing my fingers! Thanks...
ReplyDeleteCute pattern...cute fabric! I hope I win!
ReplyDeleteryanalison@sbcglobal.net
I'd LOVE to do this - it's adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteI want in too! Our major house construction should be done by next month, so I will have time to sew again.
ReplyDeleteI love maxi dresses. Hopefully I'll get around to this one... :) rebolsen at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteI am in, I had so much fun making the skirt. I think I am up for the dress.
ReplyDeleteUh, I am going to say put my name in the hat....I love maxi dresses, but due to my incredibly pear shaped body and nursing momma upper body I have had trouble with the in-store offerings.
ReplyDeletecandaceprosser@gmail.com
Wow - neat fabric! I have't made myself something in soooo long! I would love to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the end results in any case.... good luck everyone!
JoAnn
Looks like a fun project. I would love to try it out.

Oh yay! I'm lovin this one! I can totally make it and wear it while I'm large and pregnant.
ReplyDeleteAww, I tried posting a comment earlier but I guess it didn't work. Oh well, I'm trying again.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! I love the fabric and the pattern.
ReplyDeleteStill very much a beginner sewer but I've been tempted to try something for myself...this could be the catalyst I've been needing! Thanks & I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

What a great giveaway! I have been wanting (and my husband has been asking me) to make my own dress, so either way, I think I am in this month!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric and pattern!! Just yesterday in my Sew Beautiful Magazine they showed how to add smocking to the waist of a dress that is VERY similar. Would be really cute to smock with blue thread on the material you choose! Warmly, Becca pbsandp2@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI am excited to try this dress. I tried the project a few months ago (the shirt dress) and I failed misserably. I am not a very good sewer, but I am trying to learn. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHow fun. Everyone loves a great give-away! Can't wait to give this dress a try. Love the fabric! Hope I win!

ReplyDeleteWell, I thought I had posted, but I don't know what happened to my comment so let's try again...I would LOVE to make this as I've just come around to maxi dresses and I'm working on making things for myself. Also--my name is Kelli too, so I've got that going for me...

Ooooh, I'm excited that you guys are going to be doing giveaways :) What a great idea! I gave up on buying a ready made maxi dress because they are too short. So, I'm excited about making this next month whether or not I win the pattern and cute fabric.

OK, I'm coming in under the wire... I have been debating entering the giveaway, since I don't ever wear sleeveless dresses, but I love the fabric and the pattern, so if I win, I'll be drafting sleeves, and posting about that, of course. I LOVE that fabric!
ReplyDeleteCan't remember if I entered this. But sure, why not? I never win though.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun.
ReplyDeleteI have seen these dresses everywhere lately and was just thinking about making one for myself. This looks like a fun project!
